The History of

The Society of FBI Alumni, Inc.

"An Organization of Distinction"

The Society of FBI Alumni, Inc., formerly known as the Society of Former FBI Women, was officially organized with 154 charter members on May 18, 1973 in Washington, D.C. for the purpose of renewing friendships made while associated with the FBI, making new friends and supporting local, state and national law enforcement causes.  Liaison with FBI Headquarters, FBI Field Offices and the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI was established and is still maintained today.

The Society¹s first National Convention was held in Washington, D.C., October 14-16, 1979.  At this convention, Society Bylaws were adopted, establishing the Society motto as ³United in Fellowship²; its colors red, white, blue and gold; its flower the Chrysanthemum; a membership requirement of FBI employment of one year; and national dues of $15.00 annually.

A Society Seal was registered with the United States Patent Office on December 9, 1975, and is the official trademark of the Society.

The Foundation of FBI Alumni was established in 1985 for the purpose of assisting members in need, to providing educational grants and scholarship assistance for members and members of their immediate families and to make donations to other qualified charitable or research organizations.

The Society publishes two documents for its members:  THE INFORMANT, a quarterly newsletter which provides information concerning Society business, chapter news, items of mutual interest and upcoming meeting and convention schedules; and the "Society of FBI Alumni Membership Directory", which lists the name, address and telephone number of each member.  Current membership includes those with chapter affiliation.
