WELCOME TO A CAPITAL HOMECOMING

All of us passed through Washington, DC, or at least Quantico, at some point in our careers.  The host chapter for this year’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, therefore, is developing a “homecoming” motif for the meeting and we look forward to welcoming back as many of you as possible.

The headquarters for the conference will be the Fairview Park Marriott Hotel in Falls Church, Virginia.  It is conveniently located just off I-495 (the beltway around Washington, D.C.) and Route 50 and is about 25 minutes from Reagan National and Washington Dulles airports.

The program will start with an opening buffet reception and include two dinners and continental breakfasts as well as entertainment treats.  Entertainment on Friday evening will include a performance by the “Capitol Steps,” an entourage specializing in contemporary political satire (what else would you want in the Nation’s Capital).  On Saturday evening there will be a small band for your dancing pleasure.

One of the highlights of the conference will be a trip to the Academy at Quantico where we will have a luncheon in the Atrium.  Those who would like to retrace their steps there will be welcome to but this trip’s emphasis will be on the new happenings down there – the new Laboratory, the replacement of outdoor ranges by indoor facilities, the Tactical Vehicle Operations Course and other developments.  Briefings and demonstrations will let you see how the FBI is meeting the needs of current and future Agents.

If Quantico is not up your (Hogan’s) alley, there will be another tour to visit one of the hottest new museums in town – the International Spy Museum.  Afterward, we will go to the Hillwood Museum and Gardens for lunch and an afternoon visit at the former estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post, the heir to the Post cereal empire.

If a regular tour is not your fancy, the hotel provides a shuttle service to a nearby Metro station from which you can speed downtown on a subway and be close to any major monument in town.  Those who prefer neither tour can relax at the hotel or visit the nearby malls at Tysons Corner where there are around 200 stores to whet your shopping appetite.

Come on over and join the homecoming!!!
