Pittsburgh - "Golden Triangle Fun Times"

Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference

Pittsburgh Hilton Hotel - June 3-6, 2004

PITTSBURGH WELCOMES YOU

George Washington surveyed the present site of Ft. Pitt State Park in 1753. He wrote that it is "extremely well situated for a fort…" In 1754 a detachment of Virginia troops started to build Ft. Prince George. Seized by the French and renamed Ft. Duquesne, it was recaptured by the British and named Ft. Pitt. From 1754, Pittsburgh grew as a commercial, shipbuilding and industrial center, the "Gateway to the West." Greater Pittsburgh was a prime part of the "Arsenal of Democracy" during WWII, producing steel, armor, shell casings and landing craft of all sizes.

Before and after WWII, Pittsburgh was a smog filled city, street lights often on during the day. Much has changed since 1945. Pittsburgh's air is clean and clear, the skyline is beautiful, the view from Mt. Washington breathtaking. The Pittsburgh Hilton is just across the street from Ft. Pitt State Park. Walkers/joggers enjoy the view from the fountain and the walkways around "The Point." Heinz Field, home of the Steelers, PNC Park, home of the Pirates, the Science Center, Warhol Museum and various restaurants are all within a good stretch of the legs.

Following registration Thursday afternoon (check-in starts @ 3:00 p.m.), we'll have a hospitality room available and a buffet dinner. After dinner we'll have door prizes in the hospitality room every half-hour until closing. A continental breakfast will be available Friday and Saturday.

Friday morning we'll visit the Heinz History Museum. Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Jim Ambrose, long-time financial advisor to our association and Vice President at Merrill Lynch, Omaha, will present a program, "Investing in the 21st Century." The delegates meeting will start at 4:30 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. we'll bus to the River Belle, exclusively ours, for a relaxing dinner cruise on the three rivers, replete with good music.

During the conference two travelogues will be shown. One will cover a lovely Rhine River cruise, the other a Caribbean windjammer sailing trip. One of our members has enjoyed both.

There is much to do on your own after the Business Meeting Saturday morning. Please check details on our web site at www.pgxfbi.com. Saturday evening we'll enjoy great food {entrée: grilled jumbo shrimp and filet mignon}, excellent music, a prominent guest speaker, Cyril H. Wecht, MD, JD, nationally known forensic pathologist who will cover several of his interesting cases, and dancing to the Bobby Nichols Orchestra. We will also have several door prizes for some lucky attendees.

Golfers will leave Friday morning @ 8:00 a.m. Skill prizes for longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin, with a "bag of goodies" for each golfer. Cost is $40.

The Hilton is a first class hotel with excellent food service and an excellent reputation. The Hilton has valet parking available for $25.25 per day (garage has a 6' clearance). With room cost of $99, total cost is only $124.25 per day. Personal parking at this garage is $21.25. The Inter-Parking Garage on Stanwix St., with a tunnel to the Hilton, is self-park at $17 per day.

We look forward to your visit, fellowship and fun. We've worked hard to assure your enjoyment and we hope you will enjoy your visit as much as we've had planning the conference.
